Welcome, everyone! We’re so glad you’re here today. Have a seat, make yourselves comfortable, grab a beverage if needed – we’ve got some celebrating to do.

For those who don’t know me, I’m Christina – proud friend of Melinda and Billy. And today, I have the absolute honor of officiating this beautiful, long-awaited moment.

Today’s ceremony will be short and sweet—we’re here for a good time, not a long time.
We’re gonna keep it simple. We’re gonna keep it joyful.
We’re gonna seal it all with a smooch.
And then we’re gonna get on a party bus.

Let’s get this show on the road.

INTRO

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.

Electric word, life, it means forever and that’s a mighty long time.

Okay, I have ALWAYS wanted to say that at a wedding, and these two graciously gave me permission…thank you for that.

THE  STORY

So. These two.

You all have known Melinda and Billy for a long time – but I haven’t. So I sent them a questionnaire to learn more about their story. And WOW – plot twists.

Karaoke. Exes. A band. A back-up marriage pact. A kiss out of nowhere.
A literal wedding where she sang…at his…listen, it’s a Netflix series just waiting to happen.

We won’t dive into every twist and turn – party bus, remember – but what stood out the most was this:

Through it all, they stayed connected.
They stayed honest. And most of all – they stayed best friends.

They knew the risks, but they showed up anyway.
They made space for music, for laughter, for porch coffee and for basement drinks.
They built trust. They built home.

And that’s what we’re here to celebrate – because love DID find a way.
Right here. To this moment. To this day.

EXPRESSION OF INTENT (the ‘I do’ part)

Alright, lovebirds. Let’s make it official. Finally.

Billy —

THE RING EXCHANGE

These rings are your daily, wearable reminder that out of everyone in this whole wide world…you chose each other.

Billy, place the ring on Melinda’s finger and repeat after me:
“With this ring, I give you my heart.
You are my joy, my reason, my home.
And I’m all in.”

A LITTLE REFLECTION

There’s a line in the Halestorm song Here’s to Us that says:
“Here’s to us, here’s to love, all the times that we messed up.”

And that feels so right for you two –
not because you messed up,
but because you kept showing up.

Through the chaos, the awkward, the hilarious, and the hard –
you’ve been each other’s home.

You laugh. You love. You trust. You overcome. You let each other be weird.
And that? That’s what real marriage looks like.

This is not about getting it perfect. It’s about getting through it together.

Marriage will be your greatest duet yet. And you’ve got this…because you’ve got each other.
